The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) is a lifeline for many poor families in Pakistan. It gives financial help every three months to deserving women and their families. For a long time, the quarterly payment was Rs 13,500. But now, the government has heard the needs of the people and decided to increase this amount.
What’s the New Amount?
Starting from July 1, 2025, all eligible families under the BISP Kafalat program will now receive Rs 14,500 for each three-month period. This means an extra Rs 1,000 in your pocket compared to before!
Why Did BISP Increase the Payment?
This decision to increase the Benazir Income Support Programme quarterly installment is very important for a few reasons:
- Fighting Inflation: Prices of food, fuel, and other daily necessities have gone up a lot. This increase helps families to buy more things and manage their household budgets better. It’s a direct step to protect poor families from the effects of rising costs.
- Helping More Families: With higher payments, BISP can provide more meaningful support, making a bigger difference in the lives of struggling people.
- Government’s Promise: The government wants to help its poorest citizens and has increased the overall budget for BISP to Rs 716 billion for the new financial year (2025-26). This bigger budget helps in providing more aid.
This update shows that the government is trying hard to support its people and improve their living conditions.
Who Will Get the Increased Rs 14,500 Payment?
The good news is that if you are already receiving money from BISP, you will automatically get the increased amount of Rs 14,500. You do not need to register again or do anything special for this increase.
However, it’s always good to make sure your information with BISP is correct and up-to-date. Here’s who is generally eligible for BISP payments:
- Registered Beneficiaries: You must be officially registered under the BISP Kafalat program.
- Valid CNIC: You need to have a valid Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) issued by NADRA.
- Low Poverty Score (PMT): Your family’s poverty score (PMT) must be within the accepted limits (usually 32 or less), which means your family is truly in need. You can find out your PMT score online via 8171.
- Not a Government Employee: No one in your family should be working for the government or receiving a government pension.
- Updated NSER Survey: It’s very important that your family’s information in the NSER (National Socio-Economic Registry) survey is current. Many beneficiaries were asked to complete their NSER Dynamic Survey June 2025 by June 30, 2025, to continue receiving payments. If you haven’t done this, your payment might be stopped until your details are updated.
